HEALTHCARE IN MAURITIUS

Mauritius has two categories of health facilities: hospitals that include a completely free health care system and clinics that are private and chargeable. Mauritius has continuously expanded the health service through several hospitals, dispensaries and health centers throughout the island. It has also favored private health facilities through several clinics.

These private clinics are: the Fortis Darné clinic in Floréal, the Ferrière Clinic in Curepipe, the Bon Pasteur Clinic in Rose Hill, the North Clinic in Grand Bay and many others. Among these private clinics, Fortis Darné is the most renowned and since January 2014 the clinic has opened a consultation and care center at La Croisette shopping center in Grand Bay, in the north of the island.

But in the hospital field, the event of recent years has been the opening of the « private hospital » Appollo Bramwell, located in Réduit, in the west of Mauritius. This establishment is not only aimed to local customers but is also aimed to medical tourism.
