GRAND BASSIN (The Sacred Lake in Mauritius)

Discover the Grand Bassin also known as Ganga Talao. It is a small sacred lake formed in the crater of an ancient volcano located in Savanne district 550 meters above sea level. Grand Bassin is a place of worship for the Hindu community. Every year, Hindus of the island go on pilgrimage to honor the God Shiva.

TROU AUX CERFS

The Trou aux Cerfs is a volcanic crater about 300 meters in diameter and 80 meters deep located in the middle of the central plateau in Mauritius. This extinct volcano which dominates the small town of Curepipe is protected with a small lake and lush vegetation, made up of tall pines and other tropical plant species.

The Blue Penny is a marvelous museum dedicated to history and art located at Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis. This museum was established in November 2001 by The Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd and exhibits some prestigious and unique collections, which are true testimony of the historical wealth of Mauritius. These collections include postage stamps, paintings, sculptures, documents on Mauritian history and many others.

The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden is one of the most visited tourist sites of Mauritius. This garden of several hectares is located in Pamplemousses in the north of Mauritius. It is the first tropical garden created in the world by the famous French Botanist Pierre Poivre. It now bears the name of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, a former Prime Minister of Mauritius. The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden has 600 plants species including a hundred different varieties of palms, spices garden, magnificent baobabs, native and medicinal plants, aquatic plants such as giant water lilies, flat-water lilies, Lotus and water hyacinths. You will also discover animals such as the Java deer and the giant tortoises of the Seychelles. A visit is necessary in this magnificent park with rare species! LA MAISON CRÉOLE EUREKA

La Maison Eureka is a Creole house built in 1830. It is located in Moka in the center of Mauritius. It is an elegant Creole residence of the colonial era and is a great place to discover the past life. The house is completely renewed with ancient furniture and photos. The house also has a beautiful garden surrounded by waterfalls of the Moka River. Since 1986, La Maison Eureka is open to the public as a museum by its new owners.

La Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes is a zoological park created in 1985. This park is located in the south of Mauritius, near Rivière des Anguilles village.
